Frequently Asked Questions

We do our best to anticipate questions you might have about our services.

1.

What is the process for getting my child referred for therapy?

Traditional OT services require a physician referral, particularly if you are planning to seek reimbursement from your insurance.  You will need to speak with your child's physician.  Included in this conversation are concerns regarding motor skills, sensory motor coordination, self care, language development, attention and performance in daycare/school.  After this discussion, the physician may fax a prescription to 281-441-9081 for therapy to evaluate and treat.

2. How do I schedule an appointment?

You may call 713-254-5541 to speak with staff to determine if your child is eligible for in-home therapy.

3.  What paperwork is needed for the first visit?

It is important for us to have an overview of your child prior to the first visit.   You may download the forms which are located under the "about us" tab or we can mail an intake packet to you.

4.

What if my child does not have a "diagnosis"?

A diagnosis is only required if you plan for insurance to reimburse the visit.  When you visit with your child's physician, you can address concerns that may include:

  • sensitivity to sound, light, touch, movement, taste could be the result of a coordination disorder where the sensory system is not integrated to coordinate sensory stimulus for functional outcome
  •  delays with self care (feeding, dressing, bathing, climbing bunkbeds) could be a motor or coordination disorder that inhibits motor planning, bilateral coordination or integration of the sensory information or as a result of delays in reflex patterns/primary motor patterns
  • poor social interactions could be a coordination disorder of the reflex system, sensory system or motor system
  • clumsiness could be a result of sensory, motor or developmental coordination disorder

5.

How can I determine if my child is meeting developmental milestones?
